The Rarest Jewels On Earth!

We know that the precious gemstones out there are the expensive ones like Emerald, Sapphire, Ruby and Diamond. However. There are still other jewels that we call rare simply because you probably could not get them anywhere so easily. They are semi-precious and would make for a nice collection if you adventurous enough to fly out of your home to get them.

Tanzanite

This beautiful blue-ish purple gem can only be found in Tanzania. Particularly at the foot of a mountain they call Mount Kilimanjaro. If the blue colour to it has been improved then it has been heat-treated to make it available in the market. However, if it still has a very strong blue colour then it was not touched, which makes the value a lot more valuable.

Black Opals

The darker the opal, the better. The black ones are usually the ones found in Australia. There’s this are in Lightning Ridge of New South Wales that have been producing these black opals, which are rarer than the usual creamy-white opals with rainbow-coloured inclusions. Aurora Australis is the most valuable of all black opals, which had been discovered way back in the 1930’s.

Larimar

This turquoise stone can only be found in the Dominican Republic, which makes its way into one of the seats of Rarest Gemstones. Its name was inspired by its founder’s daughter, who was named Larissa. He combined her name along with the Spanish word for sea, which is mar, hence naming the beautiful thing Larimar.

Paraiba Tourmaline

Back when Heitor Dimas Barbosa, the one who discovered this stone, was trying to find this one with the sheer will of his determination, it was near impossible to find even just one of them because of how rare they were. You could only even find one in every ten thousand diamonds they had mimed. Most of the time, his digging was fruitless however, once they found one of them, it immediately alighted the market.

Grandiderite

Some say that they can be mimed anywhere but only in Madagascar and Sri Lanka can you actually find the ones with the highest quality. The rarest kind of Grandiderite is transparent and they even thought that it was another different kind of rare gem, however, after experts studied it, they’ve concluded that it was indeed Grandiderite.

Alexandrite

This Russian discovery can change its colours. The clearer the stone is, the more valuable it gets. It changes its colours depending on its lighting so if it was under the sun, it would look blue-green, while under some incandescent light, it would look red-purple.

Benitoite

This one is known to be the state gem of California. While it too can be found in Japan or Australia, California is the only place where it is feasibly mined. As you can already imagine, it is an expensive thing to be sold in open market because of its rarity.
